Golkonda Fort



Golkonda fort in Southern India and was the capital of the medieval sultanate of the Qutub Shahi dynasty (c.1518–1687). Golconda Fort Hyderabad is an outstanding example of brilliant engineering and magical architecture. The name of the fort has been derived from the Telugu words "Golla" and "Konda" which together means 'Shepherd's. Golkonda also known as Golconda. Golconda Fort is located in the western part of Hyderabad city and is about 9 km from the Hussain Sagar Lake.

The outermost enclosure is called Fateh Darwaza meaning Victory gate, after Aurangzeb’s army marched successfully through this gate. This mighty fort falls in the list of the most humongous fortresses of India. Clapping your hand at a certain point near the dome entrance reverberates which is heard clearly at the hill top pavilion, almost one kilometer away.  In a way, this feature proved to be useful as with the help of this, people living inside the fort were warned of any approaching danger if any. Tourists loves to visit this place. Golconda Fort is the 2nd Most Famous place of Hyderabad.

Golconda Fort was capital of Golconda Sultanate and it is a ruined fort of southern India. Pratapa Rudra of Kakatiya dynasty in 16thcentury. Golconda is known for Diamond Trade. The Charminar and the Golconda fort are the two great leitmotifs of Hyderabad, giving the city a continuous history of 424 years. It is believed by many that such a tunnel exists between Charminar and the Golconda Fort in Hyderabad stretching up to 9 kilometers.
